Kafkawize is now Klaw, joins Aiven

Today, I’m pleased to announce that Kafkawize is joining Aiven, the open source cloud data platform company, and has been renamed to ‘Klaw’.

Some 5 years ago, I was part of a team deploying large Apache Kafka clusters. Every organization using Kafka needs to create Topics, authorizations and so on. For my team, this meant emails or spreadsheets or git PRs, and rather a lot of discussion with the requesting teams.

The infrastructure team would then have to create the topics manually. Automatizations were available, but they increased the risk of errors.

In 2018, Kafkawize was published with initially just a couple of features. People began to show an interest in the project and gave suggestions and feedback. I took these new requirements and turned most of them into features. This in turn led to meetings with bigger customers, and their ideas and challenges enhanced the project dramatically.

This project is fully developed by me in my free time and I would like to heartily thank my LinkedIn network, family, and friends who supported me during these years.

With Aiven’s support, Klaw can reach its full potential in the coming years. I am excited to continue this journey with a company committed to supporting the open source community at scale.

If you’re new here, you can learn more about Klaw, its benefits, and how to get started with your own deployment in my new post on Aiven’s blog.
